Why does weight lost quickly come back?
Mahziar Clinic medical team · 5 min read

Water and muscle, not just fat
On very strict diets, much of the early loss is water and stored glycogen, and without enough protein you lose muscle too. Less muscle means you burn less energy at rest.
A sensible pace
For most people, losing about half a kilo to one kilo a week is sustainable. That pace gives eating habits time to actually change.
Tracking with numbers
A body analysis at the start and every few weeks shows whether the weight lost came from fat or muscle, and the plan is adjusted accordingly.
